Alexus Wykoff once again nearly pulled off a double-double for the second consecutive game. Today against host Alaska – Anchorage she netted nine points and grabbed eight rebounds for UT Permian Basin. Yesterday against Alaska – Fairbanks she had 20 points and seven rebounds.
Kamari Portalis scored the first five points for the Falcons as she started the game with a three-pointer to give the Falcons the early lead. After seven straight points from the Seawolves, Portalis hit a couple of free throws to put them back in striking distance. The Falcons ended the first on a three-point run to trail 20-14 after the first quarter.
The second quarter was a back-and-forth affair as each team traded baskets until the Falcons put together two scores in a row to trail by three with 1:49 left in the quarter, but a three by the Seawolves with nine seconds left gave them a 34-27 advantage going into the half.
The Seawolves carried that momentum and went on a 12-2 run to start the second half to put the game out of reach and take it over the Falcons 73-53.
Wykoff went 4-of-7 in the field to give her nine points tying her with
Avalon Munoz for the team lead. Wykoff also led the Falcons with eight rebounds.
On the season Wykoff has 49 points averaging 12.3 per game leading the team in both categories.
