11/20/2021 10:52:00 AM

Erik Flores completed his season at The Abbey Course in Saint Leo, FL at the NCAA National Championships, competing against the best 262 runners in Division II in very humid conditions.

Flores got out of the gate well as he crossed the 550m mark in 54th place. He then turned up the pace and gained six spots at the 1.3K line in 48th. Flores was able to keep pace at the 3K scoring marker in 49th place. Flores lost the most spots between the 3K and 4.3K markers, but he did gain two spots heading to the halfway mark of the race to be in 75th position. He gained a pair of spots between the 8K and 8.8K marks.

The sophomore represented UT Permian Basin well with a 114th place finish timed at 32:43.2 in the race.

"I am extremely proud of Erik," said Head Coach Alick Musukuma. "As a sophomore he has done a lot for the men's cross country program. I am sure he will continue to improve. I am praying for his health."
