Competing for the first time in 2022 on Friday, UT Permian Basin got terrific opening meets from
Amber Martin and
Christian Chavez. The duo were the top finishers on the men's and women's side in a field that included four Division I schools.
Martin placed 39
th with a time of 16:57.5. Not far behind her were teammates
Miranda Hernandez and Yaritza Olivares who finished back-to-back.
Odalis Lujan recorded a time of 18:29.3 while
Kayla Cepeda rounded out the Falcons with a 19:03.5.
On the men's side the freshman Chavez finished 38
th with a time of 20:35.2.
Noah Perez followed him with a time of 20:55.5 and just four seconds behind him was fellow Falcon David Cruz.
Jared Myers had a time of 24:35.5 while
Alejandro Tercero finished in 26:14.9.
