UT Permian Basin Men's and Women's Tennis competed in the Midwestern State Invitational over the weekend placing third in multiple events during their time in Wichita Falls. 
 
Teodora Vrucan placed third in her No. 1 singles fleet. Vrucan defeated Vasilisa Polunova from Cameron 6-4, 6-3 to reach the semifinals of the bracket before falling to the eventual champion Hannah Yip of Midwestern State 7-6(9), 6-2. Next she matched against Brooklyn Ross to take third place 6-2, 3-6 [12-10].
 
Vrucan wasn't done yet as her and fellow freshman Brooke Runyan placed third in their doubles pairing in the No. 3 doubles flight. The duo of Vrucan / Runyan defeated Dix / Farris 7-5 to advance to the semifinals. The pairing got the job done in the third place match against Pigeassou / Okamura in a 6-2 victory.
 
Runyan, just like Vrucan, also place third in her singles rounds. In the No. 6 singles flight she was victorious against Chole Dix 6-4, 7-6(6) in the third place match.
 
Monika Cantu placed third in her No. 4 singles flight. She collected a win over Anshu Okamura 6-3, 6-1 before falling to the flight champion Skylar Minns. Cantu defeated teammate Lea Mjertan in the third place match.
 
Cantu paired up with Krystal Smith as they beat the duo of Chawner / Deutschmann 7-5 in the first round.
 
On the men's side they were led by senior Enrique Sanchez. Sanchez lost a very close match to top ten player Alex Martinez Roca of Midwestern State 6-2, 3-6, [10-4]. He then matched up with Gonzalo Fernandez, who won the ITA Regional Tournament in early October. Sanchez defeated Fernandez 6-0, 6-3 in the consolation bracket.
 
Patryk Kosinski made it to the finals of the consolation bracket in his No. 2 singles flight. He defeated Nikita Chuev 6-4, 6-7(4) [10-6] to make it to the finals. Jonah Neumaier made it to the semi-finals of the main bracket before heading to the consolation side. He was able to make it to the finals before falling to Kristian Kubik of Cameron.
 
The pairing of Paul Schwieger and Timon Kohler made it to the finals of the consolation bracket where they fell to the duo of Almeida / Mercier of Cameron.
 
Sanchez / Roberto Garcia made it to the semi-finals of their No. 2 doubles flight main bracket. They defeated Parzajuk / Hernandez in the opening round. In their next match they faced Vidal / Kubik and fell to the eventual champions 6-4.
 
Neumaier / Fernando Siqueira matched against Abbey / Muniz of Midwestern State in their opening round of the No. 3 doubles flight. Neumaier / Siqueira won their match 6-3 to move onto the third place match.
