UT Permian Basin Baseball won a pair of thrillers 1-0 Saturday, with
Trever Berg and
Tyler Stone each going the distance in complete game shutouts. The Falcons have now shutout Eastern New Mexico in all 23 innings played this weekend.
The Falcons (8-13) got a break in the third inning of the first game.
Pemron Burrows reached second on an error before moving to third on a passed ball.
Michael Clapperton brought him in on sacrifice fly to get the Falcons on the board. That's all they'd need as Berg was brilliant on the afternoon. Berg allowed just four while striking out six.
Stone was equally impressive in game two allowing just two hits and struck out eight. The Falcon offense was kept in check until the very end. With two out in the seventh,
Andrew Williams started things off with a single to left. Burrows then ripped a triple into the left centerfield gap, scoring Williams and grabbing the lead. That's all Stone needed, sending the Greyhounds (3-18) down in order in the bottom half of the inning.
Willams had a pair of hits in the second game, while
Lincoln Choate had a pair of hits in the first game.
The Falcons are back in action tomorrow in the final game of the series beginning at 1 pm.
