UT Permian Basin men's and women's tennis picked up a pair of big victories Sunday afternoon as the Falcons returned home and each team swept Sul Ross 7-0 at the Permian High School tennis courts in Odessa.

The UTPB women dropped just four total games on the afternoon. The Falcons swept the three doubles matches 8-0, getting wins at #1 doubles from Stephanie Prats/Madison Hoetling, at #2 doubles by Jessica Madamba/Melissa Ariza, and a win at #3 doubles by Paulina Obreque/Anastasia Obreque.

Four singles matches ended in 6-0, 6-0 sweeps, with wins by Ariza at #1, Julia Ramalho at #3, Anastasia Obreque at #5, and Prats at #6. Hoetling added a 6-1, 6-1 win at #2, and Maria Briones won 6-0, 6-2 at #4 singles.

The win was almost as controlling for the UTPB men. The Falcons got 8-1 doubles wins at #2 by Marcos Silva & Daniel Colmenares, and #3 from Alex Quinones & Jacob Harper. Fernando Siqueira and Jorge Garcia added an 8-4 win for the doubles sweep.

UTPB won all six singles matches, including three 6-0, 6-0 by Siqueria at #3, Nakul Kumbria at #5, and Diego Martinez at #6. The Falcons also got wins by Sanchez 6-1, 6-1 at #1, #2 from Delipe Dias 6-3, 6-0, and a 6-2, 6-1 #4 win by Daniel Colmenares.

"It always feels good to get a decisive team win at home," said head coach Guillaume Gauthier. " We will take Monday off and look forward to getting back on the tennis courts Tuesday in order to get ready for Newman and Southeastern Oklahoma State this weekend in Dallas."
