UTPB Unveils New Athletic Logos

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin athletics unveiled a new set of logos Thursday morning in a press conference in the gym.

"With the recent and upcoming changes in our athletic department, we determined that an athletic logo reflective of our program was needed," said UTPB Athletic Director Steve Aicinena. "The logo was to represent some important characteristics of our department and university: Strength, Determination and Ferocity.  As our University and athletic department have evolved, these characteristics have been key to our growth and successes. Our new logo exudes strength, determination and ferocity. We also sought a unique logo that would be readily recognizable and associated with UTPB and only with UTPB. The look of the logo is appealing and we believe students, faculty, boosters and community members will be pleased with it."

UT-Permian Basin's new athletic marks are the result of collaboration between staff, faculty and student focus groups and Rickabaugh Graphics, an Ohio company that has created numerous collegiate, professional and corporate logos over the past 29 years.

The new logos usher in a new era in UTPB athletics. The department has undergone tremendous growth over the last couple of years, including the addition of 12 new full-time staff and coaching positions. The Falcons will add football and men's & women's golf next fall. UTPB currently sponsors baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's & women's cross country, men's & women's soccer, men's & women's swimming, softball, men's & women's tennis, and volleyball. UTPB will join the Lone Star Conference in the summer of 2016.
