Support for Falcon Athletics was on full display as the University of Texas Permian Basin Athletic Department welcomed participants to Ratliff Ranch for the annual UTPB Champions Fund Open on Thursday, May 14.
The tournament attracted strong participation with 164 golfers competing across 41 teams, highlighting the continued growth and enthusiasm surrounding the event. Through the support of sponsors, participants, and community partners, the Champions Fund Open generated more than $50,000 to benefit UTPB student-athletes and Falcon Athletics initiatives.
The Athletic Department recognizes the contributions of title sponsors PFS Aggregates, Heather and John Hutson, Hellas Construction, and Ratliff Ranch for helping make the event possible. Appreciation also goes to the 24 hole-sign sponsors whose support helped strengthen the success of the day.
"We're incredibly grateful for the support shown at this year's golf tournament," said Vice President for Athletics,
Scott Larson. "The success of this event is a direct reflection of the commitment our community, alumni, and partners have to our student-athletes and our mission."
The event continued its upward trajectory after a strong first year. The inaugural Champions Fund Open generated $32,000 while welcoming 44 participating teams, setting the foundation for continued growth and impact in support of UTPB Athletics.
Those who were unable to participate this year will have another opportunity as plans for the 2027 UTPB Champions Fund Open continue to take shape.
Fans and supporters can also look ahead to another upcoming fundraising event for Falcon Athletics. Registration for The Pursuit Clayshoot is expected to open soon, with the event set for Thursday, September 3.
