Sammi Strohmeyer highlighted the first day of action in San Antonio for UTPB Swimming, setting a new school record as the Falcons competed in the 2015 Tiger Invitational hosted by Trinity University.
Strohmeyer set a new school mark in the 100 breaststroke, winning the event in 58.87 to set a new top school time.
Amanda Alspaugh took first in a pair of events for UTPB, winning the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:13.96, and she won the 400 IM in 4:40.36.
Peyton Slater added a pair of second place finishes, coming in as the runner-up in the 50 freestyle (24.34) and 100 backstroke (59.57).
Samantha Chin finished first in the B-Final in the 100 butterfly with a result of 1:03.49.
The women's team of Strohmeyer, Alspaugh, Allyson Padilla and Slater won the 400 Medley, recording a time of 4:06.10 in winning the event.
Nathan Pantalion took first in the 400 IM, winning with a time of 4:11.87.
Mason Mitchell finished third in a pair of events: the 500 freestyle in 4:47.92 and the 400 IM in 4:17.10.
The Falcon men had three different individuals win B-finals on the day.
David de Benito Cabezas took first overall in the 100 butterfly in 50.39, and won the b-final in the 500 free in 4:41.04.
Nolan Hines won the 50 free B-Final in 54.26, and
Blayne Jackson won the B-final in the 100 backstroke in 54.26.
Both teams wrap up action at the Tiger Invitational Sunday afternoon.
