2/27/2025 4:20:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 27, 2025) – Yesterday (Feb. 26) the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee announced that senior Kathe Hepfer and junior Camilla Aguilar from UT Permian Basin will participate in the 2025 NCAA DII Women's Swimming & Diving Championship Diving Qualification Meet on March 11 (Tue.) at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IU Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Hepfer and Aguilar earned qualifying scores from at least two separate meets over the course of the season, qualifying them to the NCAA Qualification meet.

The qualification rounds will be held Tuesday, March 11, where Hepfer and Aguilar will compete in the 1-meter dive at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, followed by the 3-meter dive at 2 p.m. Eastern Time. The top 11 divers on each board are guaranteed a spot at the NCAA National Championship meet. If they qualify on one board, they will be invited to compete in both boards at the National Championship. 22 women's divers in total will be selected to move forward based on placement at the end of the qualification meet after duplicates are factored in.

If Hepfer or Aguilar qualify, they will compete at the NCAA National Championship meet in the 1-meter prelims on Wednesday, March 12 (1 p.m.), and the 3-meter prelims on Friday, March 14 (1 p.m.). The top eight divers from prelims will move on to finals, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. on each day of competition.

The men's and women's championships will be held from Tuesday, March 11 to Saturday, March 15. The action from March 12-15 will be live-streamed on NCAA.com.

The Falcons join Colorado Mesa University and Western Colorado University as the only teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference that had a women's diver selected for the zone meet. In total there were 45 women selected for the zone meet.

At the RMAC Championship, Hepfer finished fifth in both the 1-meter dive (399.70) and the 3-meter dive (460.80) while Aguilar was seventh in both events (1-meter: 342.60; 3-meter: 398.35). In addition, in the 3-meter prelims at the RMAC Championship, Hepfer's fourth-place score of 466.65 points was good for a new UTPB school record.

Hepfer was also named the RMAC Women's Diver of the Week for the second time in her career after scoring 193.95 to win the 1-meter diving event in a double-dual competition against Austin College and McMurry University.

"The progress these ladies have made this season is nothing short of amazing," spoke UTPB Diving Coach Anna James. "Earning their spot at this year's NCAA qualification meet is proof of how hard they've been working all year. Regardless of the outcome, I am extremely proud of the drastic improvements and work ethic I've seen from both of them throughout the season. It's a huge accomplishment for them to have made it this far and my goal for this meet is for them to be consistent, confident and grateful for the opportunity to compete with the best of DII diving."
