The University of Texas of the Permian Basin women's tennis team finished undefeated in two matches Friday afternoon, shutting out University of the Southwest 7-0 and defeating Howard Payne 9-0 at the Bush Tennis Center in Midland, Texas.
Krissy Chavez and Shelbey Greene won their singles matches without dropping a set, taking the third and fifth singles, respectively, 6-0, 6-0.
Alehanna Kehr-Gomez took the #1 singles match with a 6-4,6-2 win while
Casey Acosta took the #2 singles 6-2, 6-1.
Olivia Baltazar wrapped up the sweep at #4 singles dropping one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The Falcons won both doubles matches in straight sets, with Baltazar and Chavez teaming to take the #1 doubles match 8-0 and Acosta and
Ynez Sanchez winning #2 doubles 8-0.
UTPB had a little tougher time against Howard Payne but didn't drop a set in all six singles matches. Kehr-Gomez took the win 6-4, 6-1 in #1 singles while Acosta reversed the order of the scores in a 6-1, 6-4 #2 singles win. Chavez earned the win in #3 singles 6-2, 6-0 with Baltazar winning #4 6-2, 6-1. Greene and Sanchez each won the first set in straght games in #5 and #5, with Greene winning 6-0, 6-2 and Sanchez 6-0, 6-1.
Baltazar and Chavez took an 8-5 victory in #1 doubles with Acosta/Sanchez earning an 8-4 #2 win and Kehr-Gomez/Greene sweeping in an 8-0 #3 victory.
