NORMAN, Okla. (August 3, 2026) – 2025-26 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division II have been announced, and included three members of The University of Texas Permian Basin men's golf team. Earning the recognition were Ioan Rowe, Nizar Bourehim and Thonsaeng Nunya.

Rowe, Bourehim and Nunya were three of the four golfers to play in all 11 tournaments and all 32 rounds this season for the Falcons. Additionally, Nunya and Rowe both earned the All-America Scholar award for the second year in a row.

UTPB Head Golf Coach Paul Chavez said, "I am extremely proud of these young men for their academic excellence, but also for being leaders of the team. They all contributed to our team success this season on the golf course and in the classroom. The GCAA All-American Scholar is one of the most prestigious honors in college golf. Congratulations to all three of these fine young men."

Ioan Rowe
A management major with a 3.59 GPA for 2025-26, Ioan Rowe was named Second-Team All-LSC. He finished the season ranked No. 90 in NCAA Division II and No. 13 in the South Central Region, and posted a 72.0 adjusted scoring average. He totaled three top-10 finishes and seven top-25 finishes. He also had three top-four finishes: The Hrnciar (2nd), the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational (3rd), and the Rattler Invitational (4th). He Shot par-or-better in 15 rounds this season and finished under-par in three tournaments, including a score of nine-under at The Hrnciar.

The month of October saw Rowe finish second at The Hrnciar (Oct. 6-7) and third at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational (Oct. 14-15). With his second-round score of 64 at The Hrncir, Rowe (72-64-71; 207; -9) set a new tournament record and tied for the third-lowest single round score in program history. Rowe (67-68-71; 206; -7) was then named the LSC Men's Golfer of the Week after finishing third at the Ryan Palmer.

To start the Spring season, after tying for first place during each of the first two rounds at four-under during round one and even-par during round two, Rowe (68-72-76; 216; E) finished in a three-player tie for fourth place out of 87 total golfers at the Rattler Invitational.

The highlight of the Shadow Valley Invitational for the Falcons was the round-three performance by Rowe (71-77-75; 223; +7). During the round, Rowe shot back-to-back eagles on a par-4 and a par-5, becoming the first player in program history to accomplish the extremely rare feat. Rowe performed his magic on the par-4 hole two (374 yards) and the par-5 hole three (502 yards) during round three.

To conclude the regular season, Rowe (71-70-73; 214; -2) shot under-par for his third tournament of the season, going under during each of the first two rounds and finishing tied for 41st overall at the Palm Valley Classic.

Rowe then tied for 22nd at the LSC Championship (78-70-80; 228; +12). Rowe shot the fourth-lowest score during round two (-2) and was UTPB's biggest mover during the round, rising 21 spots on the individual leaderboard. In the end, Rowe rose from 51st place at the 2025 LSC Championship to 22nd in 2026, a 29-spot improvement.

Lastly, Rowe tied for 60th at the Regional Championship (77-73-72; 222; +6). Rowe rebounded from round one to shoot one-over during round two and lead UTPB with an even-par during round three. It was a 16-spot improvement on the leaderboard from round two to round three for Rowe, who also tied for 10th in the regional tournament with 37 pars.

Rowe previously ranked as high as No. 10 in all of Division II and second in the region in the first National Collegiate Golf Rankings (Clippd Scoreboard rankings) of the 2025-26 season (mid-October) after posting back-to-back top-three finishes within the first three tournaments of the Fall season.

Rowe was named to both the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, and has now made the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll five times in his first six semesters at UTPB. He was also named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team for the second year in a row.

Nizar Bourehim
A marketing major with a 3.56 GPA in 2025-26, Nizar Bourehim was named Second-Team All-Lone Star Conference and became the second Falcon to win the LSC Newcomer of the Year award. He finished the season ranked No. 205 in NCAA Division II and No. 40 in the South Central Region, and posted a 73.4 adjusted scoring average.

He won one tournament (The Hrnciar), totaled two top-10 finishes, and finished top-25 in four tournaments. He shot par-or-better in eight rounds this season and finished under-par in two tournaments this season, including a score of 10-under to win The Hrnciar. Bourehim picked up medalist honors by one stroke over teammate Ioan Rowe at The Hrnciar while also leading the Falcons to the team trophy. Bourehim (69-67-70; 206; -10) shot three-under during round one and five-under during round two before shooting two-under during the final round, making him the only player in the field of 76 golfers to shoot under-par during all three rounds of the tournament and also making him the fourth-ever UTPB golfer to win a tournament.

Bourehim (72-70-71; 213; E) also helped UTPB win the Midwestern State Invitational after shooting even-par for the tournament and tying for eighth place. In the regular-season finale, Bourehim (73-69-69; 211; -5) authored a four-stroke improvement from round one to round two at the Palm Valley Classic, and then kept it going in round three with a second straight round of three-under-par golf to move up to finish second among the Falcons and tied for 22nd overall at five-under-par. It was his second time finishing under-par during a tournament this season. In all, Bourehim finished in the top-25 in each of the last three tournaments of the regular season: Oak Tree Invitational (T16th), Midwestern State Invite (T8th) and Palm Valley Classic (T22nd).

He then tied for 36th in his first appearance at the LSC Championship (79-78-76; 233; +17) and tied for 93rd at the Regional Championship (78-73-78; 229; +13). Bourehim previously ranked as high as No. 21 in all of Division II and sixth in the region in the first National Collegiate Golf Rankings (Clippd Scoreboard rankings) of the 2025-26 season (mid-October) after winning The Hrnciar.

Bourehim was named to both the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll (three straight semesters), and was also named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team.

Thonsaeng Nunya
A marketing major with a 3.28 GPA for 2025-26, Thonsaeng Nunya posted a 73.9 adjusted scoring average, finished the season with an NCAA Division II National Ranking of No. 406, and was ranked No. 69 in the South Central Region.

Nunya shot under-par in two tournaments and finished top-25 in two tournaments as well. Nunya (71-75-75; 221; +5) opened The Hrnciar at one-under and then shot three-over during each of the last two rounds, moving up 13 spots form round two to round three to tie for 21st place, the highest finish of his senior season.

In the very next tournament, after tying with three others to shoot the lowest score during round two (-5) at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational, Nunya (77-66-69; 212; -1) finished under-par for the tournament as he improved by 15 spots on the leaderboard from round two to round three and tied for 23rd place. It was his second-best finish of the season and was the second time in his career Nunya shot a 66.

Nunya (75-75-73; 223; +7) then had his third-best finish of the season with a tie for 29th at the DBU Classic. In the regular-season finale, Nunya (75-70-70; 215; -1) shot under-par for his second tournament of the season after going two-under in back-to-back rounds in rounds two and three and tying for 48th overall at the Palm Valley Classic.

Then came the postseason, and despite co-leading the Falcons at five-over during round one and improving his score by two strokes during round two (+3), Nunya (77-75-79; 231; +15) finished tied for 31st at the LSC Championship. Nunya (75-74-75; 224; +8) then ended his career by shooting three-over or better during all three rounds and tying for 73rd overall at the Regional Championship.

Nunya was named to both the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, and made the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll four times at UTPB.

209 NCAA Division II athletes from 77 schools earned 2025-26 Cobalt All-America Scholar honors. To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
