LAWTON, Okla. (April 6, 2026) – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team fell 6-1 at Cameron University at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex.
UTPB was swept in doubles. The closet match was a 6-4 defeat by
Peyton Jones and
Sophia Crosby against Alexa Garcia and Daniela Maldonado at No. 3 doubles. At No. 1 doubles,
Fanny Bergstrom and
Mattea Bowe were defeated 6-1 by the No. 34 nationally-ranked pair of Jenna Goessel and Nil Kalkaven.
In the top singles match, Bergstrom was defeated 6-4, 6-1 by the No. 55-ranked Goessel at No. 1 singles. Goessel was named First-Team All-Lone Star Conference last season. She ended the season with a 9-1 conference record and closed out the season on a nine-match winning streak. This season, Goessel is 8-4 at No. 1 singles, including a recent three-set win over No. 13-ranked Margaux Rene from No. 31-ranked Angelo State University.
The closest of the top-four singles matches was a defeat in a first-set tiebreak, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3, by
Dinethya Dharmaratne against Adel Ismagulova at No. 2 singles.
After being announced as UTPB's Women's Athlete of the Month for March earlier today,
Paige Sitanggang won her first set in a tiebreak and then won in a third-set super tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 1-0 (10-4), against Kalkaven at No. 5 singles.

- UTPB falls to 4-11 overall and 0-5 in the Lone Star Conference while Cameron improves to 6-6 and 2-3.
- Last season, UTPB earned its first-ever win over Cameron, winning by a score of 5-1 during the LSC opener. It was the Falcons' first win in 12 matches against the Aggies.
