Nat Armenta at Lone Star Conference Championships

Young Falcons take aim at LSC Championship

ROCKWALL, Texas (April 13, 2026) – Three sophomores and two freshmen are competing for The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team at the Lone Star Conference Championship. The conference championship will be determined by 54 holes of stroke play followed by medal match play for the top-four teams at the par-72 Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club.

Shooting its same first-round score as least year, UTPB (329-330; 659; +83) is in 13th place while Cameron (324-321; 645; +69) is in 12th place.

Sophomore Lorena Etxeberria (79-76; 155; +11) and freshman Lakshita Pragnya (78-78-156; +12) are within a stroke of each other. Etxeberria led UTPB with a four-over-par during round two and is tied for 33rd place while Pragnya led the Falcons with a six-over during round one and is alone in 37th place in the field of 79 golfers.

Sophomore Nat Armenta (88-86; 174; +30), sophomore Ella Veretto (85-90; 175; +31) and freshman Carlota Gutierrez (87-90; 177; +33) are each in order. Armenta is alone in 57th, Veretto is alone in 58th, and Gutierrez is tied for 59th.

UT Tyler (291-292; 583) and Dallas Baptist (286-297; 583) are tied for first place at plus-seven through the first two rounds.

The 13 teams competing in the LSC Championship are Angelo State, Cameron, DBU, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, St. Mary's, Texas A&M International, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Dallas, UT Permian Basin, UT Tyler, West Texas A&M and Western New Mexico.

Seeding (first day only) is based on the Scoreboard national rankings. For stroke play, the low four scores of each round will be counted. Tiebreaker procedure will follow LSC Golf Operating Code.

Six LSC women's teams hold spots among the top-50 NCAA Division II teams in the latest Scoreboard rankings, led by Dallas Baptist at No. 2. The Patriots are the defending champions at the LSC Championship. UT Tyler is No. 7 followed by St. Mary's (16), Midwestern State (23), West Texas A&M (27), and Angelo State (44).

Dallas Baptist is No. 1 in the West Region and UT Tyler is No. 2 in the region. St. Mary's is ranked No. 4 and West Texas A&M is ranked No. 8 in the West Region. Lubbock Christian checks in at No. 14, which is just ahead of Texas A&M International at No. 15 in the region.

Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club is located along the banks of Lake Ray Hubbard and features rolling fairways and Bermuda grass greens. The course was designed by Ralph Plummer, who also worked on the course at Wichita Falls Country Club. Plummer designed, built or reworked 86 golf courses, primarily in Texas.

UTPB is back at it for the final round of the LSC Championship on Tuesday morning.
