ARLINGTON, Texas (March 27, 2026) – Playing in its final nonconference match of the 2025-26 season, The UT Permian Basin women's tennis team won its fourth match in a row and defeated No. 19 (NAIA) Texas Wesleyan University by a final score of 5-2.
UTPB won the first two doubles matches before falling against the No. 42-ranked doubles pair in the NAIA at the top spot.
Dinethya Dharmaratne and
Sophia Crosby first won 6-1 over Shelby Standokes and Meghan Connoly at No. 3 doubles before
Mattea Bowe and
Paige Sitanggang defeated Kaja Brunzlow and Carla Arce Fernandez 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Both pairs for UTPB moved to 2-0 in their respective doubles positions.
Fanny Bergstrom put UTPB up 2-0 with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) win over No. 12-ranked Zeynep Ege at No. 1 singles,
Sophia Rashid made it 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Arce Fernandez at No. 3 singles, and Bowe made it 4-0 with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Brunzlow in the No. 4 position.
It was the second win this season at No. 1 singles for Bergstrom while Bowe improved to 5-2 at No. 4 singles. Both ladies are tied for the team lead with six singles wins on the year.
UTPB fell in two of the final three singles matches, all three of which went to third-set super tiebreakers with the match already in hand.
Pulling out the win was
Alyssa Glasgow with a 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-3) comeback win over Mai Tsushima in the six-hole.

Team Records:
- UTPB improves to 4-7 with four straight wins.
