ODESSA, Texas (January 26, 2026) – Senior guard
Sharrod Taylor of The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Taylor had 35 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals – all team highs – to fuel a 100-95 overtime road win over Texas A&M International on Thursday, January 22. He hit the game-tying 3-pointer with 4.4 seconds left in regulation to force overtime – capping off a stretch of 18 points in just over six and a half minutes. Taylor was 9-for-16 from the field, hit 5 of 8 from 3-point range and made 12 of 14 free throws. His 35 points is the second-highest single game total in the league this season.

With four wins in its last five games, UTPB is back in the hunt for a spot in the LSC Tournament. UTPB is now 8-11 overall and 4-7 in the Lone Star Conference. After playing just one game last week, UTPB will do the same this week, hosting Angelo State University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29.
