ARLINGTON, Texas (May 3, 2025) – Following The University of Texas Permian Basin men's tennis team's 4-2 loss against No. 5 nationally-ranked Lubbock Christian University in the Lone Star Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday (May 2), senior
Jonathan Vega has been named to the 2025 Lone Star Conference All-Tournament Team.

Vega had two tough matches against nationally-ranked opponents in the LSC semifinals, falling 6-3 with
Jonas Krahofer against Kelly Giese and Jordan Georgiev (No. 35 nationally-ranked in doubles) at No. 1 doubles and falling 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) against Giese (No. 9 nationally-ranked in singles) at No. 1 singles.
UTPB's Head Tennis Coach
Chris Tolson said, "Vega played a great match yesterday with Kelly, the conference play of the year. He came up a bit short, but the match could have gone either way. Jonny was up 5-4 in the second set as the rain delay hit, and Kelly just out-edged him to win the set. Jonny has been incredible the last two years for this program, and hopefully he and this team will have done enough to qualify for the regional and get one more shot against LCU."
Vega also earned First-Team All-LSC recognition in both singles and doubles and was named the Co-Sportsmanship Player of the Year earlier in the week. Vega is 12-5 at No. 1 singles this season, including five wins over ranked opponents. He has also defeated four opponents who are currently ranked within the top-20 nationally in singles in NCAA Division II. He has wins over players ranked No. 4, No. 6 and No. 11 in the country at the time. Vega has been nationally ranked in each of the last five weeks and currently holds an ITA singles ranking of No. 25 in the nation, his highest ranking of the season. In doubles, Vega and Krahofer are a combined 12-3 in doubles, including a record of 11-3 at No. 1 doubles. This Spring, Krahofer and Vega have been ranked as high as No. 18 in the nation in doubles, and are currently ranked at No. 30.
