ROCKWALL, Texas (April 21, 2025) – The UT Permian Basin women's golf team is off to a slow start at the Lone Star Conference Championship. The conference championship will be determined by 54 holes of stroke play followed by medal match play for the top-four teams at par-72 Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club in Rockwall, Texas. This is the first time that Rockwall G&AC will host the LSC Championships after they were moved from Winstar Golf Club earlier this year.
UTPB (329-339; 668; +92) is in 12th place while Western New Mexico University (322-314; 636; +60) is in 11th place. UTPB is ranked ninth in the tournament in par-4 scoring (4.60; +48).
Gabriela Maldonado (76-77; 153; +9) is in a three-player tie for 26th place after shooting four-over-par during round one and five-over during round two.
Ainhoa Gurruchaga (77-81; 158; +14) shot five-over-par during round one and is now in a three-player tie for 39th place.
Lorena Etxeberria (84-82; 166; +22) is in a tie for 50th place after rising four spots on the player leaderboard with a plus-10 during round two.
Ella Veretto (92-99; 191; +47) is in 55th place.
West Texas A&M University (286-294; 580) currently leads the tournament with a total of plus-four through the first two rounds.
UTPB is back at it for the final round of the LSC Championships tomorrow morning.
