ODESSA, Texas (April 1, 2025) –
Evan Siegrist,
Owen Putnam,
Chase Alderman and
Nathan Powell of the UT Permian Basin men's swimming & diving team and
Emma Gerhart of the Falcons' women's swimming & diving team were each picked for the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
Evan Siegrist is a graduate student from Humble, Texas, who maintains a 3.57 GPA as an MBA student. He also graduated with a 3.88 undergraduate GPA in accounting. Siegrist broke two school records in the 1650 freestyle and the 400 IM at the 2024 RMAC Championship, and is still the school record holder with an improved time in the 1650 freestyle after this season. He swam an NCAA Division II National "B" cut time of 16:08.22 (alt. adj.) in the 1650 freestyle at the 2025 RMAC Championship.
Words from Coach Schroeder: "Evan is a graduate student and team captain. He is the hardest worker on the team and pushed the distance group to be better. He is the only active member on the team to get an NCAA B cut. If he didn't get sick, he could have gotten a team record and gone to NCAA's. He has a job offer with top-four accounting firm and has succeeded in every part of being a student-athlete."

Owen Putnam is a junior from Houston, Texas, who holds a 3.57 GPA as a management major.
Words from Coach Schroeder: "Owen is a future team captain and is a very hard worker. He broke one team record this year in 400 IM. He would've broken another and gotten a NCAA B cut in the 200 fly if he didn't get sick at conference."

Nathan Powell is a senior form Fort Mill, South Carolina, who holds a 3.53 GPA as an electrical engineering major. Before UTPB, Powell swam at George Mason University and helped the Patriots to a pair of second-place team finishes at the Atlantic 10 Championships (2022, 2023).
Words from Coach Schroeder: "Nathan was a good student that helped establish a lasting culture at UTPB. He had a very good performance at conference this year that earned him many season-best times, and he beat many of his prior year season-best times."

Emma Gerhart is a junior from Arlington, Texas, who holds a 3.77 degree as a biology major. She was a First-Team Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection this season.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and must be a standout in competition. Eligible nominees must compete in five competitions OR finish top-eight at a conference meet.
Siegrist was selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist. Finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 23, 2025.
