ODESSA, Texas (March 6, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team hosted New Mexico Junior College for a dual match (medal match format) at the Odessa Country Club on Thursday, but fell 3-2 against the Thunderbirds.
Gabriela Maldonado fell by just one stroke, 79-80, against Hinano Kishida.
Lorena Etxeberria defeated Wawa Booncharn 79-82.
Ainhoa Gurruchaga had to take on both NMJC's No. 3 and No. 4 players, and fell 79-86 against Nanami Hayakawa while defeating Stefany Crozier 86-89.
Lastly,
Ella Veretto fell by just two strokes, 89-91, to Giuliana Frutos.

Paul Chavez said, "Considering the windy and cold conditions, our team competed extremely hard. I definitely like the competitiveness we brought to the golf course today, and I like that pretty much every match was close."
After opening the month of March against NMJC today, the Falcons will close out the month with another dual match against NMJC, this time on the road on Friday, March 28, at Rockwind Community Links in Hobbs, New Mexico.
