Taysha Rushton of The University of Texas Permian Basin women's basketball team is a Second-Team selection for the 2024-25 D2CCA All-South Central Region Team announced on Thursday.
Rushton was previously named the Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year and First-Team All-LSC. Rushton is the second-straight Falcon to be named a First-Team All-LSC selection while also earning an individual LSC award and then earning Second-Team D2CCA All-South Central Region honors, joining
Alexus Quaadman, who was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Year in 2023-24.
Rushton led the Falcons with 16.8 points per game, 50 steals, 158 made field goals, 75 made 3-pointers and 95 free throws made during her lone season at UTPB. She also averaged 3.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 158-of-434 (36.4 percent) from the field, 75-of-220 (34.1 percent) from three and 95-of-121 (78.5 percent) from the free throw line. She scored at least 20 points in 10 games this season, including in seven straight games from February 1 to February 22.
Rushton was 20th in all of NCAA Division II in made 3-pointers, 24th in 3-pointers per game (2.59), 64th in points (486), and 65th in points per game. Rushton also led the LSC in 3-pointers made per game and was second in made threes, third in points per game, fourth in 3-point field goal percentage, sixth in assists per game, seventh in total steals and free throw percentage, and eighth in made free throws.
In her lone season with the Falcons, she moved herself into the UTPB record books with single-season rankings of third in points (486), fourth in field goals made (158) and sixth in made 3-pointers (75).
In UTPB's 87-79 victory over Texas A&M University-Kingsville on December 7, 2024, Rushton scored a season-high 38 points and made eight 3-pointers. Rushton's 38 points were the third most in program history, were the most scored in a game since 2012 and were the most ever for UTPB against a Lone Star Conference opponent. For her effort, Rushton was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week and was later named UTPB's Edgardo Madrid & Associates Women's Student-Athlete of the Month for December.

Rae Boothe had this to say, "Taysha is very deserving of second-team all-region recognition. As the LSC Newcomer of the Year, Taysha placed third in scoring and second in made threes in the LSC. She also led our team in scoring and steals. Additionally, she was second on our team in assists. We are proud of Taysha, and she has earned this honor."
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II South Central Region schools and conferences selected the all-region teams.
