TEXARKANA, Texas (October 12, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin men's tennis team wrapped up its Fall 2025 schedule at the TAMUT Eagle Invite on Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11.

Competing programs included Southern Arkansas University (SAU), Ouachita Baptist University (OBU), University of Arkansas–Fort Smith (UAFS), Collin College, UT Permian Basin, and host Texas A&M–Texarkana (TAMUT).

The tournament consisted of six singles draws and three doubles draws. In singles, six of 10 UTPB players won their quarterfinal matchup to advance to the semifinals. Joao D'Amorim (Flight 4) was the lone Falcon to advance to the final of his respective draw, but UTPB also saw both Lucas Nakasato (Flight 2) and Kabir Chothani (Flight 3) win third place in their respective draws. In doubles, UTPB won four of its five matches in the quarterfinals, and saw two of those pairs (Joao D'Amorim/Nehal Naidoo and Enrique Silveira/Lucas Nakasato) go on to win third place in their draw.

In Singles Flight 2, Nakasato defeated Balsa Djokovic (SAU) 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals but fell 6-3, 6-0 to Birk Arwedahl (UAFS) in the semifinals. He bounced back to defeat Lucas Yamaguti (TAMUT) 6-3, 2-1, RET [inj] in the 3-4 Playoff.

In Singles Flight 3, Chothani defeated Fabio Veiga Del Trigo (TAMUT) 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals but fell 7-5, 6-4 to Yarin Aebi (OBU) in the semifinals. He bounced back to defeat Rodrigo Hoppe (UAFS) 6-4, 6-0 in the 3-4 Playoff.

In Singles Flight 4, D'Amorim defeated Simeon Latinchev (UAFS) 6-1, 3-0, RET [inj] in the semifinals and won in a third-set super tiebreaker, 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (11-9), over Aaron Osmond (OBU) in the semifinals. However, he fell 7-5, 6-4 to Jonas Sommer (SAU) in the final. Meanwhile, Naidoo would go on to win the consolation final with a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Alvaro Tormo Lopez (TAMUT).

In Singles Flight 6, Sebastian Garcia advanced to the consolation final after a 6-1, 6-0 win over Wade Tullos (TAMUT) in the semifinals, and won 6-0, 6-3 over Bramlett Baird (TAMUT) in the final.

In Doubles Flight 1, Joao D'Amorim/Nehal Naidoo defeated Moritz Buss/Aaron Osmond (OBU) 8-5 in the quarterfinals but fell 8-5 to Lucas Nitzschke/Frode Neumann (SAU) in the semifinals. They then bounced back to defeat Lucas Yamaguti/Mauricio Trevino (TAMUT) 8-6 in the 3-4 Playoff.

In Doubles Flight 2, both of UTPB's pairs, Andrew Hunsley/Ayush Sharma and Enrique Silveira/Lucas Nakasato, advanced to the semifinals and lost to set up a match against each other in the 3-4 Playoff, where Silveira/Nakasato were victorious by a score of 8-4.

In Doubles Flight 3, Philipp Gaurieder/Kabir Chothani defeated William Von Pongracz/Andreas Gabriel Seidel (SAU) 8-4 in the quarterfinals before losing in the 3-4 Playoff. Sebastian Garcia/Yatharth Yadav defeated Bramlett Baird/Andy Tye (TAMUT) 8-6 in the consolation semifinals but fell 8-5 vs. Von Pongracz/Seidel (SAU) in the consolation final.

UTPB Head Tennis Coach Chris Tolson spoke on his team's final tournament of the fall season and said, "This weekend was the best we have played and competed all fall semester. It's exciting to see that with each event we played this year, our guys learned something new and made great adjustments to get better. Top performers this weekend were Lucas Nakasato and Joao D'Amorim, who both went 2-1 in singles and in doubles. Overall, I am proud of the team and effort they have given so far this season."

This wraps up the fall season for the Falcons who will be back in the spring.
