TUCSON, Arizona - Sophomore
Arnie Taguines had a strong final day at the West Texas A&M Desert Invite to finish tied for seventh at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Arizona.
Taguines recorded three birdies en route to an E (72) on the day, after bogeying two of her first three holes. Overall she was +3 (147) for the two-day event for the top-10 finish. She led the field in par-3 scoring at -2 and was just one of five players to shoot under-par for the event. Ainhoa Gurrachaga had four birdies after a slow start to finish the day at +7 (79) and finished tied for 28th at +12 (156).
Gabriela Maldonado had the second-lowest round of any Falcon on the course on Tuesday, shooting a +5 (77). She would go on to finish +15 (159) and tied for 37th.
Katrin Davidsdottir shot +21 (165) while
Amanda Davidsson finished at +28 (172) for 36 holes.
St. Mary's won the team event with a score of +20 (596) while UTPB placed ninth at +51 (627). Yuliana Yapur of Texas A&M International shot a -1 (143) to claim the individual championship by a stroke.
Next up for the Falcons are the Lone Star Conference Championships. The championships begin Sunday, April 14 at the Winstar Golf Club in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
