UTPB Knocks Down Rambelles

FRISCO, Texas – Graduate student Kamryn Lemon, senior Andreea Mancha and graduate student Alexus Quaadman scored at least 13 points each as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's basketball team (23-6) beat Angelo State (20-12) 71-51 in a Lone Star Conference Tournament Quarterfinal game, Friday afternoon at Comerica Center.

For the first 12 minutes of the game, UTPB and Angelo State played on even terms.  At the 7:36 mark of the second period, the Falcons held a 17-15 lead.

Lemon hit a twisting lay-up in the paint to make it 19-15 with 7:10 to go.  That started a 14-1 burst over the next five minutes to seal the game.

UTPB shut down ASU allowing them to shoot just 35.5% from the floor and 15.8% from behind the arc.  The Falcons also pulled down 26 defensive rebounds to 12 offensive for Angelo State.

For UT Permian Basin, Lemon had 17 points, five assists and four steals, Mancha scored 15 points with four triples, Quaadman had 13 points and 11 rebounds and sophomore Khiara Flugence scored 10 points.

For Angelo State, Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant scored 13 points.

UT Permian Basin will play UT Tyler / West Texas A&M winner in the Lone Star Conference Semi-Finals, Saturday, Mar. 9.  The game, which is in Frisco, Texas, is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m.
