ODESSA, Texas - The University of Texas Permian Basin baseball team ran their winning streak to a season-high four games on Thursday with a 5-4 win over Cameron in 11 innings at Roden Field.
Â
Bryan Adams earned the win with 3.0 scoreless innings of relief, striking out four and allowing just three baserunners.
Trevor Barth started, throwing 8.0 innings and allowing just four runs.Â
Â
Offensively the Falcons scattered eight hits on the afternoon. Two of them were off the bat of
Jack Haggerty who also drove in a pair.
Â
Cameron struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the second. In the bottom of the third, the Falcons got things going with a base hit and stolen base by
Payton Matthews. With one out, Haggerty singled him home to cut the lead in half. UTPB tied the score in their half of the fifth when
Carson Johnson tripled to lead off the inning. Two batters later he came in to score on a base hit by
Mason Hamlin.
Â
The visitors regained the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but the Falcons immediately responded. A pair of walks put two on for Haggerty, who singled home
Clayton Coats to make it 4-3. An error on the pitcher allowed Johnson to score from third to tie things back at 4-4.
Â
The score remained there until the 11th. Hamlin reached on an error and swiped second to start the inning. A bunt moved him to third with one out, so the Aggies loaded the bases for
Taylor McDaniel. McDaniel would get hit by a pitch to bring home the winning run and claim the win.
Â
The Falcons host the Aggies in doubleheader action beginning tomorrow at 11 a.m.
