Taguines Leads Falcons In Florida

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sophomore Arnie Taguines is chasing the leaders as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team finished Day One of the Lynn Invite. 

The tournament is being played at Boca Woods Country Club, a Par 72 with a total yardage of 6,095 yards.

The field is extremely competitive as seven of the top 13 ranked NCAA Division II teams are competing.

#2 Dallas Baptist shot 288-287 for a -1 and leads by seven strokes over #8 Rollins and NAIA #2 Keiser.  Rounding out the top five are #9 Lynn (4th - 286-302 - +12) and Seminole State (5th – 292-297 - +13).

UT Permian Basin shot 303-307 for a +34 and are in 10th place.

Individually, Ella Cheek (Dallas Baptist) shot -7 (71-66) and leads Taguines (69-70) by two strokes.

Taguines leads the field in birdies (nine) and Par 4 Scoring (3.80).  Her 69 in the first-round tied the school low round record.  This is the sixth time that Taguines has shot 69 as a Falcon.

Junior Gabriela Maldonado is tied for 37th at +8 (74-78).  She has recorded 25 pars.

Junior Ainhoa Gurruchaga is tied for 45th at +10 (76-78).  She has carded 24 pars.

Freshman Katrin Davidsdottir is 62nd at +21 (84-81).

Freshman Amanda Davidsson is 63rd at +27 (84-87).

UT Permian Basin finishes out the Lynn Invite, Tuesday, Feb. 27.
