DALLAS, Texas (September 29, 2026) – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team shot it best round (316; +28) during round three at the DBU Classic, moving the Falcons up two spots to finish 11th out of 14 teams in a loaded field featuring nine nationally-ranked teams.
UTPB (318-321-316; 955; +91) surpassed Henderson State (325-311-336; 972; +108; 13th place) and Cal State East Bay (312-320-325-957; +93; 12th place) during the final round.
Lakshita Pragnya (73-80-79; 232; +16) and
Lorena Etxeberria (76-79-77; 232; +16) led the Falcons in a three-way tie for 31st out of 75 golfers.
Pragnya began the tournament at just one-over-par after round one and tied for ninth in the tournament in par-3 scoring (3.08; +1).
Etxeberria posted UTPB's most consistent scores throughout the tournament and rose two spots with a five-over during the final round.
Lastly,
Nat Armenta (84-80-85; 249; +33) was tied for 65th;
Chase Fields (85-90-75; 250; +34) shot just three-over during the final round to rise seven spots and tie for 67th; and
Carlota Gutierrez (91-82-85; 258; +42) finished 75th.
Out of the 14 teams in the tournament, each of the top-nine teams in the standings were nationally-ranked in the first Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coaches Poll of the 2026 Fall season. Three other teams were receiving votes, including two teams UTPB finished ahead of in the standings (Cal State East Bay; Central Oklahoma).
The UTPB women's golf team will wrap up its Fall season at the Midwestern State Invitational, Monday-Tuesday, October 19-20, at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
