UTPB Falls On Road

LAREDO, Texas – The University of Texas Permian Basin baseball team (Receiving Votes) (9-7, Lone Star Conference, 9-7) lost 17-8 to Texas A&M International (9-7 LSC, 9-9), Sunday afternoon at Jorge Haynes Field.

After three innings, the game was tied at 2-2. In the fourth, with two outs and junior Gibrian Pena on first, junior Quincy McGraw Jr. was hit by a pitch.

Freshman Caleb Boswell hit a home run to dead center field to make it 5-2, UTPB.  The Dustdevils cored 10 runs over the next two innings to turn the tide.

For UT Permian Basin, junior Jack Haggerty had two hits and junior Clayton Coats had a home run.  Sophomore Grant Harvill (0-2) gave up four hits, seven runs, walked three and struck out one in two innings.  

For Texas A&M International, Cody Templeton (3-1) gave up five hits, five runs with four earned, walked one and struck out four in seven innings.

UT Permian Basin is back home, Friday Mar. 1 against Texas A&M Kingsville.  The game is scheduled to start at noon.
