Falcons Roll Over Javelinas

ODESSA, Texas – One explosive inning sealed the deal as The University of Texas Permian Basin baseball team (10-7, Lone Star Conference, 10-7) beat Texas A&M Kingsville (7-10 LSC, 9-10) 19-2 in seven innings, Friday afternoon at Roden Field.

In the third inning, with two outs, junior Jack Haggerty was hit by a pitch and sophomore Mason Hamlin walked.  Senior Ethan Flodstrom singled to right field to score Haggerty and move Hamlin to third.

Senior Austin Hall blasted a shot over the left field fence to make it 4-0.  Texas A&M Kingsville scored a run in the fifth inning.

In the bottom half of the inning, Hamlin singled and moved to second when the fielder booted the ball.  Flodstrom single to score Hamlin, making it 5-1.

In the sixth inning, the Javelinas scored to cut it to 5-2.  The Falcons erupted for 14 runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the game.

For UT Permian Basin, Hamlin had three hits and scored three runs, junior Gibrian Pena had three hits and Hall had two hits, scored three runs and drove in four runs.  Senior Creede Jeffers (3-2) gave up six hits, two runs, walked two and struck out four in six innings.  

For Texas A&M Kingsville, Carter Poulson (0-2) gave up seven hits, five runs with four earned, walked two and struck out four in five innings.

UT Permian Basin remains home, Saturday, Mar. 2 against Texas A&M Kingsville.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
