Falcons Pick Up Split On Road

LAREDO, Texas – Senior Austin Hall and sophomore Mason Hamlin had three hits each as The University of Texas Permian Basin baseball team (Receiving Votes) (9-6, Lone Star Conference, 9-6) split with Texas A&M International (8-7 LSC, 8-9), Saturday at Jorge Haynes Field.  The Falcons won the first game 11-1 and lost the nightcap 6-1.

Game - 1
In the first inning with two outs, Hamlin doubled to left center field followed by a walk to senior Ethan Flodstrom.  Hall crushed a double to left center field to clear the bases.

Texas A&M International scored one run in the bottom half of the inning.  The Falcons would score three runs in the third and fourth innings.

UTPB sealed the game scoring six runs in the top of the seventh.  The highlight was a three-run bomb by junior Gibrian Pena.

For UT Permian Basin, Hamlin had two hits and Hall had two hits (double and home run), scored two runs and drove in five runs.  Senior Creede Jeffers (2-2) got the seven-inning complete game win, giving up four hits, one run, walking three and striking out seven.  

For Texas A&M International, Christopher Sauceda (1-4) gave up four hits, four runs, walked two and struck out two in three innings.

Game - 2
In the fourth inning, Hamlin doubled to left center field.  Hall slashed a single to left field scoring Hamlin.

The Dustdevils scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning.  TAMIU scored four runs in the sixth to seal the game.

For UT Permian Basin, junior Isaias Espiritusanto (3-1) gave up four hits, two runs, walked three and struck out two in three and one-third innings.  

For Texas A&M International, Jan Cabrera (2-2) gave up seven hits, one run and struck out three in six and two-third innings.

UT Permian Basin closes the series with Texas A&M International, Sunday, Feb. 25.  The game is scheduled to start at noon.
