UTPB Grounded By Dustdevils

LAREDO, Texas –The University of Texas Permian Basin baseball team (Receiving Votes) (8-5, Lone Star Conference, 8-5) lost 13-2 to Texas A&M International (7-6 LSC, 7-8), Friday afternoon at Jorge Haynes Field.

Junior Jack Haggerty and freshman Caleb Boswell led off the first inning with singles.  Following an out, senior Ethan Flodstrom singled to score Haggerty.  Boswell and Flodstrom each advanced a bae on the throw home.

Senior Austin Hall grounded out to score Boswell to make it 2-0, UTPB.  The Dustdevils scored 11 runs over the next three innings to seal the game.

For UT Permian Basin, Boswell had two hits.  Junior Nolan LaChappa (1-3) gave up four hits, five runs with four earned and walked one in one and two-third innings.  

For Texas A&M International, Abiam Medina had three hits, scored two runs and drove in four runs.  Isaac Ponce (3-1) gave up seven hits, two runs, walked two and struck out nine in six innings.

UT Permian Basin stays on the road, Saturday, Feb. 24, taking on Texas A&M International.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon p.m.
