UTPB Battles Patriots On The Road

TYLER, Texas – Graduate student Alexus Quaadman reached a milestone as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's basketball team (Receiving Votes) (15-4 Lone Star Conference, 20-5) lost 74-57 to #21 UT Tyler (18-2 LSC, 24-5), Thursday evening at the Herrington Patriot Center.

UT Tyler scored the first 11 points of the game to put UTPB on its heels.  The Falcons refused to quit and battled back.

Senior Holly Hemmeline dropped one in from the moon to cut the gap to seven, 16-9 with 1:55 to go in the first period.  The Patriots closed the period on an 8-2 run to seal the game.

For UT Permian Basin, graduate student Kamryn Lemon had 23 points, three steals and hit three 3-pointers, Quaadman had 14 points and 11 rebounds and senior Andreea Mancha had 12 points hitting four triples.

Quaadman pushed her career point total to 1000, just the fourth player to reach that milestone.  It was also her 10th double-double of the season.

For UT Tyler, Montse Gutierrez had 18 points and blocked three shots.

UT Permian Basin keeps to the road, Saturday, Feb. 24 playing #8 Texas Woman's.  The game is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
