UTPB Pulls Away From Aggies

ODESSA, Texas – Six players scored in double figures as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team (10-9 Lone Star Conference, 15-10) beat Cameron (11-8 LSC, 15-10) 79-69, Saturday afternoon at the Falcon Dome.

The first half saw UTPB and Cameron playing a game of trading buckets.  There was a total of 16 lead changes and two ties.

Down 39-37 heading into the second half, the Falcons scored the first five points to lead 42-39.  The Aggies came back with a 3-pointer to make it 42-42 with 18:05 to go.

Junior Alex Matthews hit a bucket that started a 9-2 run that sealed the game.  UT Permian Basin led by at least seven points the last 13:57 of the game.

For UT Permian Basin, junior Maison Adeleye scored 15 points with three triples and graduate student Lathaniel Bastian had 12 points, 10 rebounds and blocked two shots.  Also in double figures was senior Keyon Craddock, junior Khalil Haywood, Matthews and junior Zy Wright.

For Cameron, Lavell Brodnex had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

UTPB takes to the road, Thursday, Feb. 22 playing UT Tyler.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
