Falcons Hold Off Charging Mustangs

ODESSA, Texas – It was a total team effort as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team (9-9 Lone Star Conference, 14-10) beat Midwestern State (8-10 LSC, 14-10) 66-62, Thursday night at the Falcon Dome.

UTPB and Midwestern State were trading buckets for the first 15 minutes of the game.  The Falcons scored seven straight to lead 28-20 with 2:51 left in the first half.  The Mustangs closed to three, 30-27 at halftime.

In the second half, tied at 32-32, UTPB went on a 20-10 run to lead 52-42 at the 9:55 mark.  Midwestern State cut the gap to four, 52-48 with 7:35 to go.

The Falcons reeled off 11 straight points and were in control the rest of the contest.

For UT Permian Basin, junior DJ Armstrong had 18 points with four triples and shot 7-of-12 from the floor and junior Maison Adeleye had 17 points and five steals.

For Midwestern State, Bakari LaStrap had 14 points and Reggie Hill had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

UTPB stays home, Saturday, Feb. 17 hosting Cameron.  The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
