He comes to UTPB from Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU), where he served as the head men's soccer coach for two seasons (2023-24). Prior to his time with the Mountain Hawks, Kull was the assistant men's coach and recruiting coordinator at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (2020-21) and the assistant men's coach and reserves coach at Schreiner University (2018-19). He also served as a volunteer assistant women's soccer coach at both Lehigh (2022) and OPSU (2024) before now taking over the women's program at UTPB.

UTPB Vice President for Athletics Scott Larson said, "The committee was very impressed with Garrett's candidacy from the start, and he was outstanding throughout the interview process. His vision for the direction of the program both currently and moving forward is very impressive and I look forward to working with him."

Kull expressed his excitement about the opportunity to lead the Falcons' soccer program. "It is an honor and a privilege to lead the Falcons, and I want to thank VP Scott Larson for his confidence in my vision! I'm excited to return to the state of Texas and be a part of a university that has a strong vision for the future. I look forward to building a championship level program and making the Odessa-Midland area my home."

At Lehigh, he oversaw the goalkeepers which finished the 2022 season 22nd nationally in saves per game with a goalkeeper named Conference Rookie of the Week and another goalkeeper receive honorable mention for Conference Goalkeeper of the Week twice. He played an integral part in implementing new technologies including the program's video analysis system and monitoring/analyzing player data. He was also an asset in recruiting and continued to grow the Lehigh Soccer Academy summer camps.

At Mines, Kull developed a national strategy that signed 13 players from 10 different states in two years during and post COVID-19. As the team's tactician, he implemented a style of play that tied the best start in program history including the most goals through the first three games, coached two Second-Team All-Conference players, and a goalkeeper who finished second nationally in saves. Kull began his collegiate coaching career at Schreiner with both the school's first and reserve teams and focused on academic monitoring with 26 recognized conference Honor Roll student-athletes.

Most recently he served as a head coach at Lehigh Valley United as the club transitioned to the Elite Club National League and Regional League. At the high school level, Kull has seen success as both a head coach and assistant coach. As the Head Boys' Varsity Soccer Coach at Our Lady of the Hills College Prep (2018-19), he led a program to back-to-back Texas private school state playoffs, had three players selected to All-State, and finished with a winning coaching record.
