ODESSA, Texas (December 16, 2024) – Senior center
Dario Domingos of The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
Domingos had 15 rebounds, five steals and two blocks to lead UTPB to a pair of road victories over Oklahoma Christian University and Cameron University.
He had three steals in an 80-77 road win at Oklahoma Christian (Dec. 12) on Thursday, two of which were turned into layups by the Falcons in the first half. He also had two steals, one of which he took himself for an and-one in the first two minutes of the game, and added two blocks in an 84-77 win at Cameron (Dec. 14) on Saturday.
Domingos also averaged 16.5 points on 60 percent shooting as the Falcons won for the sixth time in seven games. Domingos added an assist and committed just one turnover.

Kyle Tolin said, "Dario had a big week for us. He was really active on the defensive end. He did a good job of getting deflections in both games and had several big blocks vs. Cameron."
Domingos is the second Falcon to earn this award this season, joining
Maison Adeleye (Nov. 25).
UT Permian Basin is the first team in the Lone Star Conference to reach four conference wins this season. The Falcons are 4-1 in league play and 7-2 overall.
This week, the Falcons head to the River City Holiday Classic in San Antonio, Texas, where UTPB will battle the University of Central Missouri at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, before a matchup against No. 3 nationally-ranked Washburn University starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18.
