11/14/2024 5:30:00 PM

The 2024 regular season has been a memorable one for The UT Permian Basin Volleyball team. They broke a school record, have a chance to make the Lone Star Conference (LSC) tournament, and now they are ranked in the National Collegiate Athletic Association South Central Regional Poll for the week of Nov. 11.

Yesterday (Nov. 13), the Falcons found out that they are ranked No. 10 in the NCAA South Central Regional Poll – a feat that hasn't been accomplished since the 2019 season.

"I promised the team when I was first hired that if they put intense focus into winning each day, amazing things would come from that investment, said Head Volleyball Coach CJ Allard. "Since March, we've had a ton of individual and team success, and I couldn't be prouder of the steps we've taken this fall."

During the 2019 season, the Falcons were ranked No. 10 in the South Central Region and finished the season with a 20-9 overall record and 11-7 in LSC play. They went on to defeat Dallas Baptist 3-1 in the opening round of the LSC Championship tournament, before losing to Angelo State in the next round.

The Lone Star Conference is represented by seven teams in total in the South Central Regional Poll rankings, with West Texas A&M the highest ranked at No. 1.

As the Falcons continue to build on their successful season, they remain focused on their journey toward the postseason. With momentum on their side, the team is determined to make it to the LSC tournament. Their next game is tomorrow (Nov. 15) against Oklahoma Christian at 6 p.m. Following the conclusion on that game, the Falcons will face Cameron on Saturday (Nov. 16) at 2 p.m. Both the games will be played on the road.
