ODESSA, Texas (November 11, 2024) – For the first time since joining the Lone Star Conference, The University of Texas Permian Basin volleyball team has had two players named an LSC Player of the Week in the same season. It was announced on Monday that senior outside hitter Gloria Geurin was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

Geurin led UT Permian Basin in back-to-back LSC wins over St. Mary's and St. Edward's to stay in postseason contention. The outside hitter recorded her sixth double-double of the year totaling a season-high 17 kills and 15 digs, while hitting .350 vs. StMU. She came back on Senior Day with an all-around 12 kill-6 block-5 dig-3 ace performance against SEU. Guerin finished the weekend with 39 points (4.88 per set).

Geurin becomes the third Falcon in program history to be named a Player of the Week in the Lone Star Conference. She joins Aquincia Strambler, who was also named the Offensive Player of the Week on November 16, 2021, and Chrya Thompson, who earned the same award earlier this season on September 23.

 "A major congratulations to Gloria for picking up her first-career Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week award and only the third in program history," said UTPB Head Volleyball Coach CJ Allard. "With our backs against the wall in must-win situations on Senior Weekend, Glo shined her brightest surrounded by a strong team effort that allowed her to flourish. We're going to need all 16 hands on deck to pick up two more wins this last week of the regular season."

With two matches and one week remaining in the regular season, UTPB is 14-9 overall and 7-7 in the LSC and controls its own destiny when it comes to making the Lone Star Conference Tournament for the first time since 2021.

Up next will be a matchup at seventh-place Oklahoma Christian University at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 15, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
