Falcons Snare Rattlers

ODESSA, Texas – A record was set and one tied as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's basketball team (10-2 Lone Star Conference, 15-3) beat St. Mary's (Texas) (3-9 LSC, 3-15) 73-36, Saturday afternoon at the Falcon Dome.

Head Coach Rae Boothe recorded her 64th win at UTPB making her the winningest coach in program history. The Falcons won their 10 straight game in the Dome, tying the school record

For the first six minutes of the game, UTPB could not shake St. Mary's.  At the 3:52 mark, junior Avalon Munoz hit a pair of charity tosses.  That started a run of nine straight points and the Falcons never looked back.

UTPB shut down the Rattlers holding them to 22.8% from the floor and 20.7% from behind the arc.  The Falcons out-rebounded them by 20 and had 27 defensive boards to just five offensive for STMU.

For UT Permian Basin, sophomore Makala Bingley scored 21 points with five triples, senior Andreea Mancha had 14 points, five assists and hit four 3-pointers, graduate student Alexus Quaadman had 12 points, 18 rebounds and blocked four shots and Munoz had nine points, eight assists and three steals.

This was Quaadman's eighth double-double of the season.

For St. Mary's, Stina Svilberg had 12 points.

UT Permian Basin hits the road, Thursday, Feb. 1 taking on Western New Mexico.  The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. MT 6:30 p.m. CST
