Falcons Fall To Hilltoppers

ODESSA, Texas – Four players scored in double figures as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team (6-6 Lone Star Conference, 11-7) lost 78-68 to St. Edward's (7-4 LSC, 14-6), Thursday night at the Falcon Dome.

UTPB came out like a house on fire scoring the first seven points of the game.  St. Edward's came back to tie the game at 11 with 12:06 to go.  The rest of the half was back-and-forth action and ended with the Hilltoppers leading 32-29 at the break.

In the second half, SEU extended its lead to 49-39 at the 15:10 mark.  Junior DJ Armstrong dropped in a long-range bomb.  That made it 53-49, St. Edward's with 11:15 to go.  The Hilltoppers went on a 12-3 run to take control.

For UT Permian Basin, junior Maison Adeleye had 20 points and shot 8-of-11 from the floor, junior Alex Matthews scored 16 points, Armstrong had 13 points and graduate student Lathaniel Bastian had 13 points and 12 rebounds.  It was his 10th double-double of the season.

For St. Edward's, Gavino Ramos scored 18 points.

UTPB stays in the Falcon Dome, Saturday, Jan. 27 taking on St. Mary's (Texas).  The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
