WICHITA FALLS, Texas – It was a team in perfect harmony as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's basketball team (8-2 Lone Star Conference, 13-3) beat Midwestern State (4-7 LSC, 4-13) 90-62, Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

At 13-3, UTPB has the best start in program history.  The previous mark was 12-4 in 2010-11.

For the first two minutes, UTPB and Midwestern State played a slow cautious game.  Down 5-4 with 7:53 left, junior Avalon Munoz hit a pair of free throws.

That sparked a 10-3 run to put the Falcons up 15-7 at the 6:21 mark.  The Mustangs chipped away to close to 20-18 with 1:47 to go.  UT Permian Basin scored twice in the final 90 seconds to lead 23-18 heading into the second period.

In the second, MSU hit two free throws to make it 23-20 at the 9:44 mark.  Sophomore Makala Bingley hit a rainbow shot to start a run of 12 straight points and UTPB was off to the races.
