Falcons Fall On The Road

LUBBOCK, Texas – Three players were in double figures for scoring as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team (5-3 Lone Star Conference, 10-4) lost 79-69 to Lubbock Christian (Receiving Votes) (6-1 LSC, 11-4), Thursday night at Rip Griffin Center.

Lubbock Christian took a 5-0 at the 18:30 mark.  Junior Alex Matthews hit a lay-up to make it 5-2 with 17:35 to go.  The Chapparals went on a 13-3 run over the next five minutes to effectively seal the game.

The Falcons had a strong night at the line shooting 84.8% (28-of-33).  UTPB was solid on perimeter defense as LCU shot just 31.8% from behind the arc.

For UT Permian Basin, junior Maison Adeleye had 19 points and three steals,  junior Zy Wright scored 17 points with three triples and Matthews scored 10 points.

For Lubbock Christian, Tiras Morton had 24 points and 10 rebounds.

UTPB stays on the road Saturday, Jan. 13 taking on West Texas A&M.  The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
