Falcons See The Pioneers March By

LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Texas Permian Basin volleyball team (9-2) lost 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-20) to Texas Woman's (8-3), Saturday afternoon at Rip Griffin Center.  This was the final day of the Lone Star Crossover.

In the first set, UTPB and Texas Woman's battled on even terms in the early stages.  At 11-11, the Pioneers turned the tide with six straight points.

The second set followed the same script with back-and-forth action.  Senior Gloria Geurin found the back corner to pull UT Permian Basin to 13-11.  TWU went on a 5-1 run to effectively end the set.

In the third set, UTPB and Texas Woman's were trading points most of the match.  At 18-16, the Pioneers had a 4-1 run to finally take control.

For UT Permian Basin, Geurin had 12 kills and junior Gabby Gregorski collected 13 digs.

For Texas Woman's, Kaia Saylor and Tori Woods had 11 kills each.

UT Permian Basin returns home, Saturday, Sept. 23, taking on Angelo State.  The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
