Taguines & Perales Slot in Top-20 After Day One

THACKERVILLE, Okla. - The UT Permian Basin women's golf program got off to a slow start to being the Lone Star Championships, currently sitting in 11th (+45, 631), leading Western New Mexico (+46), Lubbock Christian (+47), and Texas A&M-Kingsville (+51) by one, two, and six strokes, respectively.
 
Arnie Taguines has the lowest score through two rounds for UTPB, sitting just two off par (+2) as she's in 17th place while also tying for the lead in pars (27).
 
Hot on her heels in 19th with a +3 is Anaya Perales, ranking eighth in the tournament with seven birdies.
 
The three other ladies to represent the Orange and Black are Kayla Perera, Madeline Condron, and Marina Solis have convinced to post 48 pars plus a pair of birdies.
 
The Falcons will need to make up a lot of ground to reach the medal stage, beginning bright and early Tuesday morning.
