ODESSA, TX – The Falcons had an impressive outing in their final tune up match heading into conference play. UT Permian Basin hosted #4 Seward Country Community College on camps Saturday morning. The Falcons took the day 6-1, winning all the doubles matches.
Head coach
Alex Hunt was pleased to see how the team took a professional approach to this morning's match.
"To compete at such a high level for three to four hours is really tough to do," said Coach Hunt. "They never took their foot off the pedal. We came out and swept doubles and carried that momentum on to singles."
The Falcons won the one, three, and four singles falling just one match short of completing the shut out.
"It's exciting for the guys to say they routed the number four JUCO in the nation and defending national champions," said Coach Hunt. "We still have a lot of work to do to get to where we want to go."
Next up for the Falcons will be a Lone Star Conference match at Western New Mexico on Saturday, February 25 starting at 10am.
