Falcons Fly High Over Eagles

ODESSA, Texas - It was a team effort as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's basketball team (8-2) beat Northern New Mexico (8-8) 85-52, Friday afternoon at the Falcon Dome.

This ties the best 10 game start in program history.

UTPB scored the first nine points of the game and looked to end it early.  Northern New Mexico fought back to cut the gap to 18-14 with 21 seconds left in the first period. 

Up 20-17 at the 9:51 mark of the second period, the Falcons went on a 14-2 run to seal the game.

For UT Permian Basin, sophomore Tamia Flores  had 16 points and senior Andreea Mancha had 15 points and five steals.  Mancha shot .833 (5-of-6) on 3-pointers tying the school record.

Graduate student Alexus Quaadman had 13 points and 12 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the season.  She now has 806 career rebounds, the first male or female player in school history to reach 800 rebounds.

For Northern New Mexico, Brianna Marquez had 16 points.

UT Permian Basin is off until Thursday, Jan. 4 when they host Eastern New Mexico.  The game is scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m.
