Falcons Tame The Savage Storm

ODESSA, Texas – Junior DJ Armstrong and graduate student Lathaniel Bastian scored at least 21 points each as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team (4-1) beat Southeastern Oklahoma State (4-4) 104-74, Saturday afternoon at The Falcon Dome.  This was Day 2 of the Walk On's Thanksgiving Classic.

For the first seven minutes of the game, UTPB and Southeastern Oklahoma State played on even terms.  The Savage Storm hit a 3-pointer to cut the gap to four, 17-13 at the 13:30 mark.

Armstrong hit a 3-pointer to start an 11-2 run to lead 28-15 with 8:58 to go in the first half.  SEOSU began to chip away and made it 30-25 at the 5:51 mark.  Senior Keyon Craddock knocked one down from deep in the heart of Texas.  That started a run of eight straight points and the Falcons were never challenged after that.

UTPB shot 54.2% from the floor and 52.9% from behind the arc.  The Falcons outrebounded the Savage Storm by 16. 

For UT Permian Basin, Armstrong had 23 points, shot 8-of-9 from the floor and was 7-of-8 on 3-pointers for an 87.5%, breaking the school single-game record of 85.7%. Bastian scored 21 points, had nine rebounds and shot 9-of-10 from the floor.

Junior Ty Briscoe had 14 points and five assists, Craddock had 12 points, six assists and four steals and junior Khalil Haywood had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

For Southeastern Oklahoma State, Landon Condiff scored 14 and Kyle Leslie had 13.

UTPB hits the road, Thursday, Nov. 30 playing Texas A&M International.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
