UTPB Soars Over Eagles

ODESSA, Texas – Junior DJ Armstrong, graduate student Lathaniel Bastian and senior Keyon Craddock scored at least 17 points each as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's basketball team (3-1) beat Northern New Mexico (2-8) 86-56, Friday afternoon at The Falcon Dome.  This was Day 1 of the Walk On's Thanksgiving Classic.

For the first four minutes of the game, UTPB and Northern New Mexico battled on even terms.  The Eagles hit a jumper to close to 10-7 at the 16:48 mark.  Armstrong dropped one in from the east coast with 16:17 to go.  That started a run of nine straight points to seal the game.

UTPB shot 61.8% from the floor and 52.6% from behind the arc.  The Falcons pulled down 24 defensive rebounds to just four offensive boards for NNM. 

For UT Permian Basin, Craddock had 21 points, two steals, shot 8-of-10 from the floor and hit five 3-pointers, Armstrong had 18 points, three steals and hit four triples while Bastian scored 17 points, had 10 rebounds and shot 8-of-10 from the floor.

For Northern New Mexico, Eloy Medina had 24 points with six rebounds.

UTPB remains home, Saturday, Nov. 25 playing Southeastern Oklahoma State.  The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
