Falcons Fall To Mavericks

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Grad Student Alexus Quaadman had a double-double as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's basketball team (1-1) lost 70-54 to Colorado Mesa (5-0), Saturday night at Brownson Arena.

Over the first five minutes of the game, UTPB and Colorado Mesa were trading buckets.  Quaadman hit a lay-up at the 5:19 mark to put the Falcons up 6-5.  The Mavericks took the lead with 4:36 left and held it the rest of the period.

UT Permian Basin hung tough for the first six minutes of the second period.  Sophomore Tamia Flores scored off a turnover to make it 24-19, CM with 4:19 to go.  Colorado Mesa scored five straight points to effectively end the game.

For UT Permian Basin, Quaadman had 17 points, 14 rebounds and shot 7-of-10 from the line while grad student Kamryn Lemon had 17 points, three steals and shot 7-of-10 from the floor.

For Colorado Mesa, Mason Rowland had 19 points and Sophie Hadad scored 12 points.

UT Permian Basin stays on the road, Friday, Nov. 17 playing King (Tenn.).  The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
