Falcons Grind It Out Against Aggies

ODESSA, Texas – It was a good old fashion slugfest as The University of Texas Permian Basin volleyball team (11-4, 2-2 Lone Star Conference) beat Cameron (3-14, 0-5 LSC) 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19), Friday night at the Falcon Dome.  This was the fourth straight win over the Aggies.

In the first set, it was back-and-forth the entire way.  UTPB was up 23-19 when Cameron reeled off three straight points.  The Falcons took a deep breath and forced two errors to take the set.

In set two, the Aggies came out fast getting to a 6-1 early lead.  Sophomore Grace Feddern smashed the ball for a kill.  That started a 7-2 run to tie the set at 8-8.

UT Permian Basin looked to close out the set up 24-18.  Cameron scored four straight to make it 24-22.  Senior Cassandra Rother just unleashed a bomb down the middle to end the set.

In the third set, it was once again just a war until 19-17, UTPB.  Rother unleashed a massive kill to start a run of three straight points to effectively end the match.
